Poll Results Californians Overwhelmingly Support School Reform Efforts California Business for Education Excellence conducted a survey to assess attitudes and opinions about standards-based assessment and accountability in California’s kindergarten through 12th grade public schools. The survey’s major finding is that despite isolated, yet vocal, opposition to standardized testing, the voting public strongly endorses the use of standardized testing and statewide standards in the state’s public schools. It is clear from the survey that voters want an objective method of measuring student achievement both to understand how students are progressing academically and also as an accountability tool for school system management. Voters overwhelmingly support school reform that is tied to the use of statewide learning standards and standardized testing and want to see the pace of such reforms continued. |
